Techfest
In September 2007, approximately 140 people attended presentations of the proposed Aberdeen Offshore Windfarm and options for change in Aberdeen's Golden Square at the annual Family Weekend of the Aberdeen Techfest. Amongst the issues presented about the windfarm were the differences in potential visual impacts at different times of the day, year and weather conditions, as well as an understanding of the limited risk of 'flicker' due to the alignment of the sun and the proposed turbines. For the Golden Square, 'tours' were run of a change in layout of the design of the square, with the statue of Lord Gordon relocated and the square pedestrianised.
