Landscape Research Week, Jan 2007
Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen
A Research Week was held at Scott Sutherland School, The Robert Gordon University. The event was hosted by Dr Richard Laing, and aimed to highlight research links between the Macaulay Land Use Research Institute and RGU in public preferences for urban landscapes and factors associated with greenspace design.
The audience comprised research staff from the Scott Sutherland School, and School of Computing. A range of virtual reality models were presented, with opportunities taken to implement a new model, created by Stephen Scott of RGU, of a historic site known as Tinganes in the Faroe Islands (see picture below).
A second new model was also released, of a combined structure of an oil rig and wave power facility. This model was created for Dolphin Energy Systems (Dubai), and enables an interpretation of the structure, using the virtual environment, for discussion with engineers, commercial supporters, and members of the public.
