This section explains the structure of the original Martinec-Rango SRM input data file. (See SRM Results page for example of HYDALP SRM-Java implementation input data file) In order to keep the size of the original SRM file as small as possible, no comments were included in the file. Therefore, the file itself is hard to understand. To aid usability, and if it is required to automatically update the parameter file, a 'front-end' program is advisable for converting user or automatic input and writing it out in the appropriate format. Every line ends with a combination of comma and slash (",/"). The datasets containing parameters and variables can be extended over a number of lines, each dataset again terminated by comma-slash. Strings need to be delimited by double quotes (model version, comments etc.). Down to line 35 the content of each line is well defined. Below this line, the number of lines may change according to the format of parameters and variables. In former SRM file versions without climate change option, line 27 did not exist. Parameters and variables may be applicable as zonal or basin wide: their values are always saved for all zones. In case of a basin wide definition, values for zone 1 represent the whole basin. Selecting the image opposite will display a line-by-line explanation of an example SRM input data file. |
