The Thematic Network will be holding 4 workshops, whose aim is to bring together scientists and experts to discuss and draw conclusions about the following subjects:

The development of European standards for the objective measurement of genetic selection parameters, based on quantity and quality fibre traits

• Workshop II in France, 9-10 March 1998

The establishment of common European protocols for the recording of genetic performance data for speciality fibre producing animals

• Workshop III in Germany, 4-5 September 1998

Quality assessment and the requirements of the fibre manufacturing industry

• Workshop IV in Portugal, 8-9 October 1999 (List of participants)

The development of breeding schemes for European-produced speciality animals animal fibres
