Dr Brian Walker is the Programme Director and Chair of the Board of Members for the Resilience Alliance. He is a distinguished research scientist in the field of ecosystem function and dynamics, based in the Sustainable Ecosystems Division at the Commonwealth Science and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in Canberra, Australia.

Abstract

How much change can an ecosystem or society undergo and still function properly? Understanding the components and structures of systems is one thing, but knowing how to manage them in a desirable state for future generations is what lies at the heart of resilience management.
