LADSS currently uses daily climate data from the British Atmospheric Data Centre (BADC). For future climate change scenarios LADSS uses Global Circulation Models (GCM) output from the Met Office (Hadley Centre) and Canadian Centre for Climate Modelling and Analysis (CCCMA).
LADSS previously used data for mean monthly temperature and rainfall derived by interpolation between Meteorological Office stations.

Spatial Interpolation:
Establishes relationships with elevation, distance to the sea, and geographic location. This produces the trend surface.
Geostatistical interpolation of the residual values from the trend surface analysis then provides a surface based on local trends and the estimated residual surface. The interpolation also produces a relative error surface for the interpolation.
When combined, the trend surface and estimated residual surface produce the final map.
