Agricultural producers, advisors, scientists and public administrators all over the world need information systems for fast and simple exchange of information and rapid, economic and interdisciplinary access to many types of agricultural information, such as texts, data, graphics and pictures. For this reason, open, decentralized information systems, like the Internet, have become more and more important, because they cross national boundaries and give access to worldwide information from the individual workplace.

What is DAINet

The Centre for Agricultural Documentation and Information (ZADI) - an institution operating under the auspices of the German Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry - provides the German Agricultural Information Network (DAINet) on the Internet. DAINet is an agricultural information system, which makes agricultural information on the net easily accessible following structured descriptions of and references to information type and site contents. It is a navigation system which directs the information-seeker quickly and accurately to the desired sources of information. DAINet is the world's largest agricultural search catalogue on the Internet which orders the agricultural information on the net according to search categories.
