description	Land cover data obtained from the Swedish National Land Survey. For each 500 m by 500 m pixel the landcover is given as one of the following classes: forested, unforested or water. To increase the information SMHI have combined these data with their own data base on lakes. For hydrological purposes Sweden has been divided into a number of so called standard basins with a mean size of approximately 40km2 (about 10000 basins). The land cover database has been used to compute the forested, the unforested and the lake areas for each standard basin. This information is stored in a separate data base. This standard basin data base does not at present contain information on glaciers. Digitized information on glaciers is available, although this information has not yet been combined with the standard basin database. SMHI entered the data on glaciers into the HBV model files by hand, but using the areas from the digital data base.
