data_set_name Runoff (Hydrological) data, BASUK
data_date generally 1978-1997 (depends on indiv. stations)
description Measurements of Discharge, gauged river level, Mean Daily
Flow (MDF), Mean daily runoff or monthly average forecasts
for stations relevant to BASUK.
All files in ASCII text format (have not been converted to
HydAlp data format yet).
Data present for stations: Boat of Garten (1978-97), Feshiebridge (1992-97),
Kincraig (1993-97), Tromie Bridge (1978-97) and Loch Seilich (1980-96).

filename File format is (Stn)_(date).dat, (Stn)_(date).rai, (stn_(date)fl.rai
(Stn)(date)_lv.txt, (stn).txt or (stn).prn and (stn)(date)dy.txt;
where *.dat=MDF, *.rai=Mean monthly runoff (MMR), *fl.rai=mean monthly
flow (MMF), *dy.txt=daily discharge (DD) and *lv.txt=daily gauged river
levels (GRL).
software Standard Unix/PC text modules from original MSEXCEL (Xls) formats.
NB: Final HydAlp format will be provided by Unix shell scripts.
formats HydAlp data format only within HydAlp project.
Data can otherwise be manipulated by any text editor
or spreadsheet package. The source organisation will only
supply the original data as text files.

gauges (most are semi automated). Discharge measured in cubic metres (cumecs)
to 0.01m, rainfall and river levels ~0.1mm.
other *.dat files recommended as most accurate daily flow data.
Conversion equation for MDF to MDR (rainfall) present in /runoff
directory - conv_eqn.txt.
Some of the data (in *(date)dy.txt files) has been edited
for innaccuracies (shows as data code 2 in final data column).
copyright Ownership of the original data is Scottich Environmental Protection
